Dallas Stars Power Countdown: 44 Days: Round One Results

It’s a beautiful Tuesday and the countdown continues to tick away! 44 days until the Dallas Stars open up their season against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 9th at the American Airlines Center.

I’ve started a new series, and if you didn’t catch yesterday’s poll, tough luck.

I have made a bracket, one like you would see for the NBA or NHL playoffs, of the 16 best games of the Dallas Stars 2013-2014 regular season. I’m sure you will agree entirely with the 16 games I have chosen, and if not, then just play along and comment at the end with which one you feel should have been given a chance and won.

So, I will put a poll up for each of the next 15 days featuring one of the games, with a brief argument for why it should be considered. Then, you can go to the bottom and vote on which one you think deserves to move on to the next round. The poll will expire 24 hours after it is put up, just in time for the next bracket of games to be put up. At the end of the Sweet 16, I will announce the winners and results of the entire round and start up the Elite 8, and so on and so forth. Sound fun? If so, great! If not, oh well.

The results are officially in and who’s ready to hear how each of the eight games panned out?! Here are the results:

The Detroit Red Wings game from November 7th VS. The Vancouver Canucks game from March 6th: Detroit won the match, 19-5

The Toronto Maple Leafs game from January 23rd VS. The Calgary Flames game from November 14th: Toronto won the match, 16-12

The Minnesota Wild game from March 8th VS. The Anaheim Ducks game from November 26th: Minnesota won the match, 13-4

The Los Angeles Kings game from December 23rd VS. The Ottawa Senators game from November 3rd: Los Angeles won the match, 10-5

The Chicago Blackhawks game from December 3rd VS. The Boston Bruins game from November 5th: Boston won the match, 15-8

The Pittsburgh Penguins game from January 25th VS. The San Jose Sharks game from October 17th: Pittsburgh won the match, 10-4

The Philadelphia Flyers game from December 7th VS. The Nashville Predators game from April 8th: Nashville won the match, 12-9

The Minnesota Wild game from January 21st VS. The St. Louis Blues game from April 11th: St. Louis won the match, 13-2

So there’s the results, and here are the matchups for next round, The Elite 8!
