Dallas Stars Power Countdown: 43 Days: Top Game of 13-14

It’s Wednesday, and it’s time for the second round of our Top Game of 2013-2014 bracket! But seriously, let’s remember the countdown. Just 43 days until the Dallas Stars open up their season against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 9th at the American Airlines Center.

I have made a bracket, one like you would see for the NBA or NHL playoffs, of the 16 best games of the Dallas Stars 2013-2014 regular season. I’m sure you will agree entirely with the 16 games I have chosen, and if not, then just play along and comment at the end with which one you feel should have been given a chance and won.

So, I will put a poll up for each of the next 15 days featuring one of the games, with a brief argument for why it should be considered. Then, you can go to the bottom and vote on which one you think deserves to move on to the next round. The poll will expire 24 hours after it is put up, just in time for the next bracket of games to be put up. The Sweet 16 has already ended and the final eight teams have moved on. At the end of the Elite 8, I will announce the winners of the entire round and start up the Final 4, and so on and so forth. Sound fun? If so, great! If not, oh well.

Today, we begin the second round of this series.

The first game and today’s matchup is: Dallas Stars @ Detroit Red Wings on November 7th VS. Toronto Maple Leafs @ Dallas Stars on January 23rd

Dallas @ Detroit, 4-3 F (OT):

This one easily made the Sweet 16. The fact that Detroit is a long-time rival of the Dallas Stars and that Dallas successfully won in OT in front of a Joe Louis crowd is just a magnificent thought to conceive. From Jamie Benn’s sweet dangles that stood tall against Pavel Datsyuk’s later in the game, to Cody Eakin’s equalizer with 70 seconds to go in regulation, along with Rich Peverley’s OT winning beauty, it was a great game. Did I mention that it was two days after the Stars beat the Bruins at TD Garden in a shootout?

Here’s a clip to help you reminisce:

Toronto @ Dallas, 7-1 F

Another seven goal game, another fun game, nonetheless. No one had an outstanding milestone in this game and nothing turned out to be a “game changer”. It was just fun to watch the Stars beat the snot out of the Leafs! With seven goals tallied and a goalie change for the Leafs, along with the invention of the “Rally Bieber”, it was truly a night to remember! Great game, to say the least.

So, you vote now! Be on the lookout tomorrow for the next edition of this playoffs series! You have until 2:30 PM CST on Thursday, August 28 to cast your vote and help the game you thought was better to move on! VOTE BELOW.

Which Was The Better Game Of The Stars 2013-2014 Regular Season?

  • Stars @ Red Wings (75%, 12 Votes)
  • Maple Leafs @ Stars (25%, 4 Votes)
