Dallas Stars Power Countdown: 38 Days: Top Game of 13-14

Happy Labor Day! Hope everyone enjoys their day off, and just remember, the countdown is still running! 38 days until the Dallas Stars open their season up against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 9th at the American Airlines Center.

I have made a bracket, one like you would see for the NBA or NHL playoffs, of the 16 best games of the Dallas Stars 2013-2014 regular season. I’m sure you will agree entirely with the 16 games I have chosen, and if not, then just play along and comment at the end with which one you feel should have been given a chance and won.

So, I will put a poll up for each of the next 15 days featuring one of the games, with a brief argument for why it should be considered. Then, you can go to the bottom and vote on which one you think deserves to move on to the next round. The poll will expire 24 hours after it is put up, just in time for the next bracket of games to be put up. The Sweet 16 and Elite 8 have already ended and the final four teams have moved on. At the end of the Final 4, I will announce the winners of the entire round and start up the championship round. Sound fun? If so, great! If not, oh well.

Today, we begin the third round of this series.

TODAY’S MATCHUP: The Dallas Stars @ Detroit Red Wings game from November 7th VS. The Minnesota Wild @ Dallas Stars game from March 8th

Dallas @ Detroit, 4-3 F (OT):

This one easily made the Sweet 16. The fact that Detroit is a long-time rival of the Dallas Stars and that Dallas successfully won in OT in front of a Joe Louis crowd is just a magnificent thought to conceive. From Jamie Benn’s sweet dangles that stood tall against Pavel Datsyuk’s later in the game, to Cody Eakin’s equalizer with 70 seconds to go in regulation, along with Rich Peverley’s OT winning beauty, it was a great game. Did I mention that it was two days after the Stars beat the Bruins at TD Garden in a shootout?

Here’s a clip to help you reminisce:

Minnesota @ Dallas, 4-3 F:

MODANO NIGHT! This does not need a MASSIVE description, just major props to Erik Cole, who showed up and made sure the Wild had no chance of spoiling Mo’s special night. From Kari Lehtonen’s head meeting the metal crossbar and bringing newly arrived backup Tim Thomas in to get his feet wet, to Cole turning into a human battering ram after lending his stick to Brenden Dillon and his third period beauty on the break that proved to be the game winner, you could not have asked for much more on this special night.

So, you vote now! Be on the lookout tomorrow for the next edition of this playoffs series! You have until 2:30 PM CST on Tuesday, September 2nd to cast your vote and help the game you thought was better to move on! VOTE BELOW.

Which Was The Better Game Of The Stars 2013-2014 Regular Season?

  • Wild @ Stars (67%, 8 Votes)
