As the 2015-2016 NHL season approaches, the Dallas Stars will soon have to select their Opening Night starting goalie.

The goaltender is arguably the most important player on the ice, and it’s very hard to succeed without a quality man in the crease.

This off-season, Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill acquired G Antti Niemi from the San Jose Sharks, after Kari Lehtonen had an extremely disappointing season statistically, despite tying a personal record for wins in a single season.

Jim Nill stated that his plan was to alternate both net-minders each game, but in the long-run, if one or the other starts to stand out, that strategy might not last all season.

Either way, all Stars fans know that the goalie play must be fixed immediately.

The Dallas Stars have played in 21 hockey seasons (lockout in 2004-2005) since the franchise moved to Dallas in 1993. Every season that the Stars have succeeded in their history, they had a solid goaltender.

Today, we look back in time and rank the top five goaltenders in Dallas Stars history.
