Do you have or are you planning on getting a new Dallas Stars jersey and have no idea who to put on the back? Look no further.

As the grueling offseason without hockey continues Dallas Stars fans may be tempted to purchase a new victory green jersey before the season begins in October. While that decision is one fully supported by the Dallas Stars community, the most challenging part might be choosing whose name and number to have on it.

Whether you’re looking for a tried and true player or a newcomer whose jersey is hard to find in the crowd at the American Airlines Center, there’s something for everyone on this Dallas Stars team.

The Mainstream

Jamie Benn

As the captain and, therefore, designated leader of the Dallas Stars it’s no wonder a lot of Stars fans opt for a No. 14 jersey. To make it even more tempting Jamie Benn just re-signed with the team, agreeing to an eight-year, $76 million contract.

His long list of accomplishments, including an Olympic Gold Medal and an Art Ross Trophy win, make him one of the obviously popular Stars jersey’s to buy.

Why Benn?

If you’re looking for a long-term investment, it makes sense to go with Benn because you’ll have a relevant jersey for years to come.

Tyler Seguin

The other half to Dallas’ dynamic duo, Tyler Seguin, is also amongst the most popular sweaters seen around. Having been drafted second overall in 2010 and being a part of the 2013 blockbuster offseason deal, Seguin is a big name in hockey.

His electric style of play that incorporates speed, skill and some grit makes him a fun player to watch on the ice. Seguin’s well-known outgoing personality makes him a fun guy to keep up with off of it.

Why Seguin?

Tyler Seguin is a good option for people who want a top-tier player, but are also looking to show support for a guy who’s very outspoken and fun off the ice as well.

The Supporting Roles

Antoine Roussel

Antoine Roussel is a player whose jersey is becoming increasingly popular as time goes on. He’s known for his 110% attitude on the ice and his unique ways of aggravating opponents around the league with ease.

He’s one of those players that is great if you root for the Dallas Stars, but awful if you’re a fan of any of the other 29 teams in the league. He has a passion for the game that is evident in every shift he plays and his willingness to support and defend his teammates is unmatched.

Why Roussel?

Roussel is the jersey for you if you’re a fan of the agitator era of hockey, or if you’re in the market for a player who’s comparable to former Dallas Star Steve Ott.

Cody Eakin

Cody Eakin has slowly but surely developed himself as a core member of the Dallas Stars. While he isn’t of the Benn or Seguin variety, his contributions to the club don’t go unnoticed.

Eakin served as the Stars’ first line center for a good part of last season and he’s earned every inch he’s received. No. 20 plays a big role in face-offs for the team, a role that will surely have more pressure in 2016-17 with the departure of Vernon Fiddler, but he’s more than up for the challenge.

Why Eakin?

If you’re looking for a depth player whose name is on the cusp of being more well-known around the league, it’d make sense to go with No. 20.

The Wild Cards

Radek Faksa

Radek Faksa joined the Stars midway through last season and never looked back. He earned his way into the line-up and his play made him a hard player to sit.

Faksa is an up and coming forward with great potential. At only 22-years-old, he has a significant amount of time left in his career and he looks to be part of the Stars’ future plans more and more.

Why Faksa?

While his 45 game stint with the Dallas Stars in the regular season may very well have made an impression on fans in the market for a new jersey, No. 12 is still a rather uncommon sweater to see. He’s a perfect option for a fan of offense who wants a player that people who don’t follow the sport closely may not know.

Stephen Johns

Stephen Johns, like Faksa, found his way into the Stars’ line-up and never looked back. Dallas loved his ability to hit and be responsible in his own zone, while also contributing a little offensively.

Johns is still new to the league, having 14 regular season games under his belt, but he has an immense amount of potential. His No. 28 isn’t popular amongst fans just yet, but his he continues to play the way he has so far, he may find his way into the mainstream category in a few years.

Why Johns?

Stephen Johns is the player for your new jersey if you want a defenseman that isn’t as well-known as John Klingberg, but still has a lot of talent. He’s also a player that will have more pressure on him this upcoming season as the Stars chose not to re-sign Jason Demers and Alex Goligoski.

All in All

The Dallas Stars have a great group of players and this is simply six of the options available, not even looking into Texas Stars players.
