The Dallas Stars have hosted their Little Rookies camps all summer. Over the past few weeks, they have received some significant help from guys that aren’t necessarily rookies.

There is something about the little people on skates that is just adorable. It’s hard to not smile when a six-year-old scores a goal and goes crazy or even when two kids drop the gloves and tussle.

The Dallas Stars are able to fully expose that positive energy each summer through their Little Rookies camp. At the camp, kids learn the basics of hockey and get a head start on their future endeavors in the game. The camps are hosted all across the state of Texas, spanning from Frisco to Austin and even in College Station.

And every once in a while, one of the camps will get lucky and receive a visit from an actual Dallas Stars player. That has happened quite a bit this summer, which is obviously awesome to see. When each offseason starts up, the majority of Stars players go home to their native country to relax and train, leaving Texas behind.

But this year, it looks as though a couple of Dallas Stars players are still in town and each one decided to make an appearance at a Little Rookies camp session.

Jordie Benn was the first one to make an appearance. After going home to Canada for the first few weeks of the offseason (and posting a picture of him looking straight lumberjack), Benn came back to Dallas and hit the ice with the little tykes for a day.

In addition to skating around with the cherubs, Benn also talked with the media about his offseason so far, as well as the new deals signed by both he and his brother Jamie. To find that story, click on the link in the tweet above.

But Jordie was not the only player to reach out to the youth. This past Friday, Ales Hemsky showed up at camp and participated in some of the on-ice events with the young skaters.

Hemsky stayed the entire day and took pictures with each individual skater at the end. Hemsky then met with the media and talked extensively about the World Cup of Hockey. He will represent his home country of the Czech Republic in the tournament. To read about his offseason and thoughts on the World Cup, click here.

And finally, the Captain himself made an appearance. Fresh off of a surgery that fixed up a pulled stomach muscle, Jamie Benn handed out graduation certificates to the first ever girls Little Rookies program. Be forewarned: the following images may be too cute to handle (if you have not seen them already).

All in all, it looked like it was a pretty alright day for the first ever girls graduate class.

Along with meeting the kiddos, Benn also spoke to the media. He talked about the Little Rookies program, his recovery from surgery, the World Cup, his new extension, and what the future of the team looks like. To read the entire transcript from Mark Stepneski, click here.

It’s now July 31st, people. The NHL draft and free agency opening seem like distant relics of the past. Now the dreary month of August hits, so buckle up and bear with us. It’s going to be a slow one, but we’ll just have to manage. We always do, right?
