Dallas Stars Lose To Blackhawks, Receive Season Sweep

The 2016-17 season took another disappointing turn last night for the Dallas Stars as they somehow managed to find a way to lose to the Chicago Blackhawks. Somehow, someway, they lost.

It’s not easy being a Dallas Stars fan this year. Something always seems to be going wrong. Even in the rare scenario when it seems like everything is going right, something always causes them to slip up.

That happened on Thursday night as the Stars met up with the Chicago Blackhawks for the fifth and final time this season. Dallas entered the game with a record of 0-3-1 versus Chicago and was trying to avoid the season sweep.

As you can probably guess, that didn’t happen. The Dallas Stars lost 3-2 in the shootout and now have 11 losses past regulation this season.

The only problem is that the Dallas Stars really didn’t deserve to lose the game. For the majority of the night, the Stars controlled the flow of the game. They were stout on offense and posted 44 shots, played tight defense and only allowed 26 shots, and had Kari Lehtonen manning the pipes and making a couple of dandy saves.

Ales Hemsky was on fire, finishing as the lone goal scorer for Dallas and tallying his first multi-goal game in two full years.

This was against the best team in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks were four points out of first place in the NHL going into the game and came out needing just two.

Everything seemed to be going great for the Stars and it looked as though they might pull off the upset, but Corey Crawford decided to have one of his best nights of the entire season and get the W, stopping 42 of 44.

It has become a common theme for the Dallas Stars this year to occasionally outplay their opponent and somehow find a way to lose. Even when they play a solid style in all three areas, they still come up short.

This all attributes to the ugly season that the Dallas Stars have experienced. It’s been a long haul and they have little to show for it. Now with nine games left to play, the Stars are running out of time to make something out of the year.

Things continue to go wrong for them and they cannot seem to help it, no matter how hard they try. It’s happened so many times and it happened again last night.

At this point, the Stars are simply searching for an end to the season. They play again tonight at home against the San Jose Sharks and will look to finally break the 70-point mark. If it’s anything like last night’s game, it looks like they’ll be in for another wonderful 60+ minutes and no reward.
