After a dramatic season, it’s safe to assume that a period of respite is much appreciated by the Dallas Stars. After sending three players to the IIHF World Championships, it’s time to consider any and all things to do with development.

Let’s daydream for a second here. Imagine a season in which the 2016-17 Dallas Stars made to the Playoffs and were matched up the first round with any of the other qualifying teams. If they had made the playoffs, it would have been by the skin of their teeth. In all honesty, it would have been brutal to watch the Stars in this playoff season because the compete level is simply above and beyond anything the 2016-17 Stars could defeat.

So in summary, it’s a good thing the Stars have time to collect themselves. Returning to the idea of a developing team. The talent that Dallas craves is already in their hands. Consider how young most of the roster is. It’s notable how dedicated some of the team leaders are to their teammates.

Take Tyler Seguin, for example, he did not miss a single game this season, yet underwent surgery late April.

The Stars are ready to make a comeback, that’s a given, but it is also understood that success will take time. Leading into the summer, players will need to buy-in to both the team’s future and the leadership of coach Ken Hitchcock. 2017-2018 will be different, but it’s up to the team to determine whether or not different will be a good thing.

Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Doesn’t Work Hard.

The header does not imply that the Dallas Stars do not work hard but rather implies that other teams work harder. The NHL is a highly competitive league. Any wasted time or talent puts the competition at an automatic advantage. It was a simple game for other teams to get the Stars to crumble, all it took was 1% more effort.

Some games, the Stars would surprise fans with a burst of determination, and many times, it would end in a Dallas victory. Positivity runs deep when utilized. If the Stars foster a positive and determined environment for young players, the future of the team could shine brighter than anything could have predicted.

Of course, everything is hypothetical at this point. 2016-17 isn’t officially over yet; however, the team can start looking forward to their goals for next year. There’s always something to improve on.

The Dallas Stars are in dire need of a new drive.

Doubt only exists where the Stars appear timid. There’s nothing that Stars fans want than the teammates to have success playing a game they love. (Not to mention that it would be fun to watch a successful season.)
