Tomas Vincour: Not Yet His Time To Shine

AUTHOR: | IN: Dallas Stars, Texas Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last year around this time, the Stars were in a similar, if not better, position to make a run at the playoffs. The fans, players, and organization were hungry for a taste of what they had been missing for the last two years. Then the injuries began to pile up. A number of Texas Stars were called up, among these were Aaron Gagnon, Francis Wathier, and Tomas Vincour. Of these players, Vincour was the most-lauded and highly anticipated. Anyone who watched his long stretch of games with the Stars last season heard it over and over. The kid has NHL-level [...]

Why Dallas Stars Fans Shouldn’t Wait For A Big Trade

AUTHOR: | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It’s January in the hockey world. That means two things: that we are starting to see what team will compete for playoff spots, and that trade rumors are really starting to heat up. On Twitter, on blogs, on fan boards, and even on nightly NHL Network shows. The rumor machine is starting to kick it into high gear and there is no stopping it. It can be fun to listen to and read about, but putting trust in 95% of it will just bring letdowns and headaches. So where do the Dallas Stars fit into everything this season? Last year I [...]

Rapid Reaction: Dallas Stars Defeat Edmonton Oilers 4-1

AUTHOR: | IN: Dallas Stars, NHL, Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

What Happened: The first period was a back and forth affair, and despite the Stars getting a power play opportunity, it was the Oilers who struck first. Taylor Hall’s shot bounced of Alex Goligoski’s skate and right over the head of goaltender Richard Bachman. The 1-0 lead lasted through most of the second period, but Loui Eriksson went to another level and set up a Trevor Daley pass to Jamie Benn to tie the game at 1-1. Benn wasn’t done yet, and took matters into his own hands to break the tie, scoring seven minutes into the final frame to [...]

Rapid Reaction: Stars Beat Predators 4-1

AUTHOR: | IN: Dallas Stars, NHL, Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

What Happened: Even though Mark Fistric’s hit on Shea Weber, that left the Nashville captain out of action for four games, was completely and totally legal, it seems the Predators felt the need to exact revenge. On Fistric’s first shift, Predator Jordin Tootoo took matters into his hands and began the game with a spirited bout between the two that ended with Tootoo tackling Fistric to the ice. Not bothered with the Predators silly gripes, Mike Ribeiro scored his seventh of the year on a silky deke to give the Stars a quick 1-0 lead less than three minutes later. [...]

Dallas Stars Recall Jordie Benn From AHL

AUTHOR: | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Stars announced today that Jordie Benn has been recalled from the AHL. Benn, known to most Stars fans as Jamie Benn’s older brother, has seen a dramatic improvement in his game this year down in Austin playing for the Texas Stars. Two years ago, Benn was playing in the CHL, for the Allen Americans. Last year, he earned a spot on the Texas Stars roster, and over 60 games played, scored 2 goals and 12 points. This season, Benn has produced 7 goals and 15 points in just  31 games played. This move could just be a precaution, given [...]

Dallas Stars Look To Close 2011 Out With A Bang

AUTHOR: | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

All things considering, 2011 will go down as a very special season for the Dallas Stars.  Despite missing the playoffs for the third season in a row, there were a lot of great things the team could build on going into 2011-2012.  Perhaps the most important aspect of 2011 was Vancouver businessman, Tom Gaglardi, securing ownership of the team.  During several moments of overwhelming emotions, Gaglardi personified a passion that has sorely been missing from the “captain’s chair” since the team won the Stanley Cup in 1999.

Rapid Reaction: Stars Defeated By Columbus 4-1

AUTHOR: | IN: Dallas Stars, NHL, Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

What Happened: The Columbus Blue Jackets attacked the Stars early, and their efforts paid off when Rick Nash scored just four minutes into the game. The Stars were fortunate to get an equalizer from Vernon Fiddler five minutes later, because the team played the first two periods at a sluggish and ineffective pace. The Blue Jackets regained the lead early in the middle frame from an Antoine Vermette goal. The Stars limped to the end of the period, generating no real scoring chances and looking uninspired. Things didn’t get much better in the third period. Rick Nash cashed in for his [...]

Dallas Stars Try To Avoid Trap Game

AUTHOR: | IN: Stars | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tonight, emotions will be running on high as the early MVP of the Dallas Stars returns after missing the previous dozen games.  The last time we saw Stars goal tender, Kari Lehtonen, he was writhing in pain on the ice in Phoenix as he suffered a low-groin strain.  Much like an ankle sprain to a running back in football, the lower the better, however, for a goalie who probably skates the equivalent of three ice rinks in a lateral movement, any groin injury can put even the toughest net minder on the top shelf with their water bottle for several [...]
