Stars Update: PEI Day 2/3, Pre-Season and more!
The NHL pre-season officially kicked off today starting with a 5-3 win by the Predators over the Panthers. Right now I sit here contently as I write this watching the Maple Leaf vs. Senators game on NHL Network on my television. This is the time of the year that I am at my most comfortable. A Stars game on 3 nights a week, more or less. When the boys in black aren’t playing then I have 8 other games to pick from. It’s the best ambient noise for me as a writer (even better than Journey’s greatest hits). But that’s [...]
PEI Day One: Glen Puts the Boys through the Paces
The first day of training camp in Prince Edwards Island, Canada is completed and we’ve learned a little bit of what the players and we as fans can expect from a new season, 7 new team mates and a changed up coaching staff that includes brand new head coach Glen Gulutzan. The general consensus from today was, “Pace”. The practice had a high pace to it and from what Coach Gully has said, every practice should be that way from here on out. Yeah, and we’ll practice that way – “pacey” – all the time. If you’re going to play [...]
It’s no secret that the Puck Daddy position power listings they are doing this week are causing an uproar among fans and even among some fellow members of the media. Judging who the top 25 of any given position; center, right wing, left wing or otherwise is a tough job for anyone, however. That said, while Jamie Benn and Mike [...]
Dallas beats Edmonton 3-2
The most delightful part of tonight’s game was the end where tempers flared and the Oilers showed that the next two meetings this season should be games that remind us all of the Oilers/Stars rivalry of the past when they seemed to meet in the playoffs every year.
At least we tried right? Wrong!
Columbus 2, Dallas 0 : now onto Philly Dallas traveled out on the road, and again the result Sunday night was the same. The Columbus Blue Jackets beat Dallas 2-0 (one goal coming as an empty-netter) and the Stars road struggles continue. But this time it can not be blamed on Marty Turco or the defense because both played good and basically only allowed one goal. Now the problem is goal scoring, as Dallas has now been shutout 2 of its last 3 road games and has only 4 goals in their last 5 games away from the AAC. Inconsistent goaltending, [...]
