The Texas Stars have announced that they have signed 25 year old Gord Baldwin to a professional tryout contract.
Spending his junior days with the Medicine Hat Tigers, the Winnipeg native was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 entry draft by the Calgary Flames. He spent 4 and a half years with their AHL affiliate in Quad City and Abbotsford, appearing in 234 games. Texas Stars head coach Willie Desjardins is very familiar with Baldwin as he helped the Medicine Hat team capture the 2007 WHL Championship, giving them a berth in the Memorial Cup.
Baldwin is a veteran of the AHL circuit. Currently in his sixth professional season, Baldwin has racked up 14 points, (3 goals, 11 assists) in 26 games for Idaho this year.
