Dallas Stars Christmas Poem Just In Time For Break

The Dallas Stars are currently enjoying a three-day Christmas break. We thought that some yuletide cheer in Stars form would do you, the fans, some good!

The Dallas Stars capped off a successful first part of the season on Tuesday night when they bashed the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0. This was the Stars third win in a row and their 26th win of the season through 35 games played.

While it is their best start in franchise history, the Stars are also sitting atop the NHL as the only team with 26 wins and 54 points.

Now the Dallas Stars will take a much-deserved and well-earned three day break for the Christmas holidays before resuming play on December 26th in St. Louis. Considering I did it last year and it was a hit, I thought I would put together another Dallas Stars version of “Twas The Night Before Christmas.”

Only unlike last year, this one will not be written with a somber tone, considering the Stars have completely flipped their luck from around this time last season. So sit back and enjoy Twas The Night Before A Dallas Stars Christmas!

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the AAC,
All Stars fans were celebrating, including Lindy;
The sticks were lined up by the bench with care,
After being used for yet another victorious affair;
The players were nestled all snug in the locker room,
Waiting to enforce their next opponent’s doom;
And Jordie Benn combing his beard and Kevin [Jokipakka] laying back,
Had just devised a plan for their next defensive attack;
When out in the stands there arose such a clatter,
They rushed to the giant Star to see what was the matter;
Out onto the frozen surface they flew with a flash,
Wondering if they were about to endure another clash;
The Zamboni’s scraping of the ice and snow,
Gave a clear vision of what was set to go;
When what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But Jamie Benn clad in his Dallas Stars gear,
Along with a mustached old GM so full of thrill,
They knew in a moment it must be Jim Nill.
The rest of the players returned to the ice,
After beating the Blackhawks and Canadiens, which was quite nice;
Jeff K had quite the tongue twister and was nowhere near bored,
As he had to call out each player from the games that had scored:
“On Benn! on Spezza! on Seguin and Sharp!
Now Niemi! now Eaves! now Sceviour and Janmark!
From the back of the net! to the glass on the wall!
Now stride away! stride away! stride away all!”
As the power play that was always ready to attack,
They had proved that they never refused to fight back;
So to the front of the net the NHL’s best flew,
With their sticks and pucks and Johnny Oduya too,
And then, with a cheering, I saw from the stands,
The salutes at center ice from each player with stick in hands;
As I watched in excitement as the season strove on,
Jim Nill admired how the 2014-2015 team seemed to be gone.
He was dressed in his Sunday best from head to foot,
And his mustache was clean without a trace of soot.
A bundle of new player’s contracts he held in his hands,
Making him look like that much more of a genius over all the lands.
His eyes, how enticing! and his mustache, how majestic!
His expression was determined, considering this season had been epic!
He proved to be the Dallas Stars perfect gift,
And the Stars had experienced one heck of a shift.
He continued to play it cool with a gentle smile,
Though first place in the NHL had the Stars in beautiful style,
Stars fans didn’t notice it, but Nill continues to work in excess,
Even with their newfound and still infant success!
This season was a strong one, and there was nothing to fear,
The Stars seemed ready to make it a Cup-run year!
With a rub of his mustache, two times for the fun of it,
It was clear the rest of the season would continue to be lit.
He sprang to the ice along with Ruff, and to his team eagerly showed the standings,
But he quickly blew the whistle and reinforced that it was not time to make a landing.
And I heard him exclaim before he disappeared in the night,
“Thanks for persevering, Stars fans! Things are finally alright!”
