The Dallas Stars organization is known for their promotional abilities and consistent interactions with their fans. They are at it once again with the creation of the Klingburger.

The Dallas Stars closed out a shaky month of January last night with a gritty 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames at home. The game was the Stars final contest of January 2016, and they will now enter a seven-day break while NHL All-Star Weekend takes center stage.

Strangely enough, the Stars will actually be on a break. While Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and Lindy Ruff are away in Nashville serving the Central Division in the All-Star game, the remainder of the team will be resting at home.

“I want them to step away for three or four days, just totally step away,” Dallas Stars head coach Lindy Ruff told Mike Heika of SportsDayDFW.com. “It’s been totally taken out of our hands. The message was completely remove yourself from the game and totally decompress. Clear your mind and we’ll approach the last 30 games as a new season.”

One of the players who will definitely benefit from this break is the second-year superstar defenseman John Klingberg.

After a breathtaking rookie campaign with the Stars that landed Klingberg fifth in voting for The Calder Trophy through just 65 games, Klingberg was titled elite. His offensive skills mixed with his shutdown defensive presence made him an enticing member of the Stars blue line. As a result, the Stars locked him in with a seven-year contract extension over the summer.

Many speculated about whether Klingberg would experience a sophomore slump this coming season. After such an impressive first season, could he go any further up or was down the only option? Throughout the first 30 games, he proved all of the doubters wrong by tallying 31 points and continuing his dominance in the defensive zone.

Since then, the Stars have seen a rather sharp decline from Klingberg. In the last 20 games, he has a measly nine points. He is committing turnovers on a more consistent basis that are unfortunately turning into goals against.

It is starting to become a bit of a worry factor. Considering that Klingberg has never competed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Stars have a strong shot at qualifying this year, Klingberg will need to have his mind right in time for the postseason push.

Hopefully this break will have a lasting impact on Klingberg and allow him to adjust and revert back to his old and efficient style of play.

While he takes a rest, the chefs at the American Airlines Center will be preparing for a busy February at the grill. The Dallas Stars announced yesterday that for the entire month, the AAC will sell what is called “The Klingburger” at select vending spots throughout the arena. It is a burger named in honor of and designed entirely by John Klingberg himself.

Mike Heika posted the ingredients of the burger:

The burger is topped with cheddar cheese, homemade quick pickles, crisp bacon, shaved red onions, lettuce, and Swedish special sauce. Klingberg would not reveal the secret, but said the sauce is often found on burgers in Sweden. The burger is topped by a toasted Ciabatta bun infused with cheddar cheese and served with a dill pickle and seasoned fries.

The burger will be sold at both Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks games for the 29 days of February. The burger was quite the topic for the media during the Stars morning skate on Monday before the game against the Flames.

The Stars will be at home six different times in February, and four of those games fall on Saturday nights. So plenty of opportunities to get a burger. Not to mention that each of those four opponents are considered powerhouse foes (Blackhawks, Capitals, Bruins, Rangers). Get ready. It’s going to be a jam-packed month.
