The Dallas Stars are set to host their annual Party in the Park event Friday night at Klyde Warren Park. The get together kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and is open to the general public.
In an effort to continue a new tradition, the Dallas Stars will host their annual Party in the Park event this Friday night at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, TX.
During the event, the Stars will unveil the 2016 Western Conference Regular Season Champions and 2016 Central Division Champions banners that will join the other Stars’ franchise banners in the rafters at the American Airlines Center. They will be the first team banners to rise into the rafters in almost a decade for the Stars.
Here is the press release on the event from DallasStars.com:
The Dallas Stars announced today that the organization will unveil the Western Conference Regular Season Championship and Central Division Championship banners that will hang in the rafters at American Airlines Center at PM Standley Motorcars Party In The Park at Klyde Warren Park in downtown Dallas on Friday, July 15 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The free live music event will begin at 6 p.m. and fans will have the opportunity to take their picture with the banners. The event will feature music from Rise & Shine and conclude with Jonathan Tyler, who takes the stage at approximately 8 p.m. A Dallas-based “rock band with a twist of blues and country”, Jonathan Tyler headlines the outdoor summer event for the entire family.
Beginning at approximately 7 p.m., special Stars personalities will address fans in attendance about the team’s offseason moves and the upcoming 2016-17 season. Food trucks from local vendors will be on-site along with Dallas Stars mascot Victor E. Green and the Stars Street Squad, which will have inflatables and interactive games for all ages.
The event has been a blast in years past, specifically last year due to general manager Jim Nill’s perfect timing.
At the 2015 Party in the Park, the Dallas Stars’ media team was on the stage addressing the crowd when they announced that a trade had been made. This was the trade that brought Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns to the Stars in exchange for Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley. No rumors or observations had followed the trade, making it a surprise to all in attendance.
This year, many are speculating that the Stars will announce a trade for Ben Bishop or another high-caliber goaltender. While the odds are slim of it happening two years in a row, anything is possible. So keep your ears open if you attend the event, and if not, be checking your Twitter and/or Facebook.
