Dallas Stars Release Official Training Camp Roster
Training camp 2016 is just around the corner, and the Dallas Stars have their official roster set.
This Friday, the Dallas Stars will start a three-day journey in Cedar Park, Texas as their 2016 training camp stint gets underway. The camp will conclude on Sunday, and the preseason will start up at the AAC on Monday as the Stars take on the St. Louis Blues.
And following the preseason comes the regular season, meaning we will finally have a plethora of topics to talk about! We hope you are as excited for October 13 as we are.
But before we reach this hallowed date, we have to get through training camp. The Dallas Stars return to Cedar Park for a second straight year, giving fans of the Texas Stars (the Dallas AHL affiliate) a chance to see what the NHL looks like at an up-close level.
On Friday, the Stars will have two on-ice sessions, each consisting of different groups. The first one will last from 9:30 a.m. – 10:40 a.m. and the second will go from 12:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. to finish the day. This will be the same schedule for Saturday as well. Both of these days will be open to the general public.
On Sunday, the Dallas Stars will once again host their annual Victory Green vs. White intrasquad scrimmage. These tickets are on sale at the H-E-B Center Box Office as well as on Ticketmaster. The scrimmage will begin promptly at 10:00 that morning. Following this, the Stars will kick off their preseason play against the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center.
Yesterday, the Stars released their official roster for camp. It consists of 49 total players and is broken up between 28 forwards, 15 defenders, and six goaltenders.
The players are an assortment of NHL starters, AHL prospects just on the verge of hitting their NHL stride, and a few prospects simply fighting for an AHL starting spot. The complete list can be found below.

One of the biggest encouragements from this list is the fact that Seguin is under the forward column. Now, he may not play. But if his injury was severe enough, the Stars would not have included him on the list and opened it for another prospect. In other words, Seguin must not be far off from full recovery.
Radek Faksa, Esa Lindell, and Ales Hemsky are still holding their own in the World Cup of Hockey, so they will be absent from training camp.
Finally, the captain will be there. This will be Jamie Benn’s first time back on the ice in front of a large group of Stars fans since a game seven loss and offseason surgery. People are probably excited to see him back.
Another player to keep a close eye on is Jiri Hudler. With Valeri Nichushkin deciding to go overseas on Tuesday, Hudler will now step up and fill the role with a veteran presence. Dallas needs him to find success if they want to continue being the dominant offense of the league.

Who all is making their way out to Cedar Park? Sadly, none of our staff will be on hand (you know, with college and all…). But we hope to see you throughout the regular season at the AAC! Make sure to keep up with all of the developments of the weekend as they become public.
