Dallas Stars Milestones To Look Out For This Season
Throughout a hockey player’s career, it seems as though each game brings an opportunity to reach a new milestone. That being said, there are plenty of Dallas Stars that have career achievements to look forward to this season.
If you are a dedicated Dallas Stars fan and have attended games on at least a semi-consistent basis, you have probably heard of their PA announcer Jeff K.
Since 2013, Jeff has provided the Stars with in-arena commentary and has been the cause of goosebumps, screams, laughs, cheers, and tears. That’s a large amount of power for any member of a production, especially the PA announcer.
Aside from the Stars, Jeff is also the in-game host for the Dallas Cowboys’ home games and works on the radio. In other words, if the job involves sports or music and requires a solid voice, he probably has a hand in it.
But I think it’s safe to say that everyone agrees that PA for the Dallas Stars trumps all of his other jobs. I mean, it’s the Stars. Whether he’s calling out the statistics of the most recent goal, letting all in attendance know how much time is left, or amping up the crowd before the start of a period, his voice is always common sound ringing through the rafters of the AAC on game night.
If you follow his Instagram account, you will also see that he has another job besides simply reading a script. He also collects all of the game pucks that have been used for scoring or assisting purposes throughout the contest. Sometimes those pucks go home with the players and are put in a case for eternity because they are considered “milestones.”
With a team of 23 players, milestones come along on a regular basis. It seems as though a handful of Stars players hit one each month and by the end of the year, just about every player reached a monumental part of their career at least once.
Considering the Stars will more than likely have multiple milestone players this year, we though it would be a good idea to point out the most noteworthy ones that have a good chance of happening. Find them below.
Goals
Patrick Eaves is one goal away from hitting the 100 mark for his career. It would be his 26th in a Dallas Stars uniform.
Only eight goals separate Stars captain Jamie Benn from 200 goals on his career. All of his 192 so far have been scored in a Stars uniform through 508 total games.
Antoine Roussel is three goals away from reaching 50 for his career. The 26-year-old has played his entire NHL career with Dallas.
Though it may be a slight reach, Tyler Seguin is 37 goals away from 200 total. Could it happen this year? Definitely. Will it? We’ll have to see.
Assists
Jordie Benn is three assists from a career total of 50. He, like many others on this list, has played his entire professional career with Dallas.
Patrick Eaves only needs nine assists to tally 100 for his career. It looks as though Eaves is ready to hit a lot of milestones this year.
Ales Hemsky only needs five more assists to hit 400 on his NHL career.
Seguin is only eight assists away from 200.
Points
John Klingberg is only two points away from breaking 100. Considering he has only played 141 games at the NHL level, he’s well on his way to establishing himself as a top-five defender in the league.
Roussel is only three points away from 100 total career points.
Only 52 points separate the captain from the big ole 500.
10 points are all that lie between Eaves and 200 total for his career.
Hemsky sits only 35 points away from 600.
Games started
Jordie Benn is aiming to play his 300th career NHL game this season.
Eaves is close to 600 total games.
Radek Faksa could break 100 games this season.
If he plays in 77 of the possible 82 games this season, Ales Hemsky will hit the 900-game mark in his career.
Depending on when Mattias Janmark recovers from knee surgery, he may be able to hit 100 with Faksa.
John Klingberg will more than likely hit 200 career games this season. They grow up so fast.
It looks as though Patrik Nemeth will finally play in his 100th career NHL game this season.
Johnny Oduya will more than likely hit 800 career games started this year.
Roussel is close to his 300th career game.
Seguin has a shot at hitting 500 career starts, barring any crazy injuries (which seem to continually happen to #91 at a crucial point in each season).
New alternate captains Jason Spezza and Patrick Sharp could both hit 900 games this season as well.
Goalies
Kari Lehtonen could play in his 600th NHL game this season. He could also win his 300th game. Lehtonen is actually sitting at 15,000 saves on the dot throughout his career right now. He could also reach 40 career shutouts (has 34 at the moment). And of course we are still waiting for him to score a goal.

Antti Niemi will likely play in his 400th career game and might have a shot at 250 wins. He could also hit 40 shutouts this season (currently has 35 all-time).
So as you can tell, there are a lot of milestones to keep up with this season for the Dallas Stars. Jeff K. will definitely have his hands full labeling all of these pucks.
Just 24 more hours, folks. Hold on tight.
