Dallas Stars Meet Up With Jets For Second Time This Week

The Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets are getting to know each other really well. They will meet up tonight for the second time this week, only this time it will be on Winnipeg’s home ice.

The Dallas Stars are headed north of the border for tonight’s contest. They will trade blows with the Winnipeg Jets for the second time this week after winning the first matchup on Tuesday night. It promises to be a good one, so make sure to tune in.

The game will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Southwest (FSSW), and you can also hear it on 1310AM/96.7FM The Ticket. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Though their play has not been consistently stellar this season, the Stars are still very much in the mix. With a win against the Jets tonight, the Stars will be in a three way tie for first place in the Central Division.

The Winnipeg Jets, on the other hand, come in with a record of 2-4-0 and four points. They are struggling through the early portion of the year and need some wins to get back on track.

On Tuesday night, the Stars defeated the Jets 3-2 with a significantly depleted lineup in the confines of their own home. Brett Ritchie, Patrick Eaves, and Tyler Seguin all hopped on the board with goals and Antti Niemi made 28 saves on 30 shots in the win.

The Stars went 1/6 on the power play and 3/4 on the penalty kill. Dallas also outhit their opponent, won the majority of face-offs, and blocked more shots.

Overall, Dallas played one of the best games of their season on Tuesday night. It will be interesting to see if they can replicate it tonight playing on the road against the same opponent.

Shore taking his new role by the reins

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Devin Shore is the real deal.

The 22-year-old forward made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars on opening night of this year back on October 13th. Six games later, he has one goal and five assists for a total of six points.

Shore’s performance as a whole has been amazing this year. He’s producing at an astounding rate while only averaging 15:17 on the ice each game and splitting his time between the second and third lines. His efforts on defense and in the dot are strong and improving with each passing game, giving the Stars a lot to look forward to.

Oh, and to put things into perspective, Shore is tied with Tyler Seguin for first place on the Stars roster for most points. He is also tied for third among all active NHL rookies (trailing Auston Matthews and William Nylander) in points. Keep it rolling, Shore.

Injury report

The Dallas Stars are busted and broken right now, dealing with a massive number of injuries. C Jason Spezza (undisclosed) did not skate at practice yesterday and is doubtful for tonight. LW Patrick Sharp (concussion), RW Ales Hemsky (groin), LW Jiri Hudler (illness), C Cody Eakin (knee), and C Mattias Janmark (knee) will all be out for tonight’s contest.

The Winnipeg Jets, on the other hand, have a much less populated infirmary ward. They will be without C Bryan Little (lower body) and RW Drew Stafford (upper body) tonight.
