Dallas Stars SuperBracket: Final Four Action Ahead

As the NCAA Tournament progresses, so is that of the Dallas Stars SuperBracket. Let’s see who, what, or when advanced to this weekend’s Final Four.

The spectacle of March Madness is often times unbelievable; surprise players, Cinderella stories, upsets, busted brackets across the land, and exciting play from teams of schools you’re in no way familiar with.

Last week, the team at Blackout Dallas assembled a massive Dallas Stars tournament bracket (innovatively entitled a “SuperBracket”), in order to duplicate this format, and for the fans and voters, hopefully the same excitement.

On Thursday, the SuperBracket’s Elite Eight began – a best-of-the-best, ultimate regional champion battle – with the results that follow.

Let’s take a look at the four matches played on Thursday:

#1 Sergei Zubov (79%) – #1 Ken Hitchcock (21%); 42 votes.

Sergei Zubov, the leading Stars defenseman points-scorer in team history and Defense Region champion, knocked off Coaches Region champ and Stars Cup-winning head coach Ken Hitchcock in the Elite Eight. Zubov advances to the Final Four.

#1 Mike Modano (87%) – #4 Victory Green Homes (13%); 45 votes.

Forwards Region winner and Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Modano defeated the champion of the Jerseys Region and current Dallas Stars home sweaters, the Victory Green Homes. Modano faces #1 Sergei Zubov (Defense Region) in the Final Four.

#1 1998-99 (62%) – #2 Ed Belfour (38%); 39 votes.

The champions of the Seasons Region, 1998-99 (the year in which the Stars won the Stanley Cup), beat the winner of the Goalies Region and former Calder Trophy recipient Eddie “The Eagle” Belfour. 1998-99 made the Final Four.

#5 Brett Hull’s Cup-clincher in 1999 (79%) – #2 Jim Nill (21%); 39 votes.

Moments Region champion, Brett Hull’s 1999 Stanley Cup Winning Goal, defeated General Managers Region champion Jim Nill. Hull’s Cup-clincher will face off against the season of 1998-99 in the Final Four.
