2. A Game Winner Against Carolina
Let’s quit talking about all of these sad 2016-17 losing efforts and jump back to the happy memories of 2015-16.
It was exactly two months into the 15-16 season, and the Dallas Stars were flying high. They were 20-5-2, were the best team in the NHL, and had yet to lose two games in a row. Oh, what wonderful times they were.

They hosted a Tuesday night affair against the Carolina Hurricanes, and the first period turned out to be utter domination by Dallas, which had become a rather typical tradition. The Stars tacked four goals on the board, chased Hurricanes starter Cam Ward out of net, and carried a 4-0 lead into the dressing room.
But then things slowly started to unravel. In the second period, Dallas managed to breakeven with Carolina, tallying one goal a piece, to keep a commanding 5-1 lead going into the third.
Within the first 13:17 of the final period, Carolina had knotted the game at 5-5. Stars fans were in utter disbelief. Their powerhouse team had just surrendered an incredibly large lead to one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
It seemed as though there was no hope until the Stars went on a late power play in the final few minutes of the game.
They would need a hero to get them out of the game on top, and Patrick Sharp just happened to be that hero.
It was a wicked shot by Sharp and found its way into the back of the net, giving Dallas a 6-5 lead with under 20 seconds to go. Surprisingly enough, they were able to hold that lead and win the game.
This is a game that Stars fans can go back in the NHL TV Vault and watch if they want to suffer a panic or anxiety attack while cheering all at the same time. Those 2015-16 Dallas Stars sure were fun, weren’t they?
