We’re just sitting here, waiting for some sort of hockey news to come our way. While we wait, we thought it would be helpful to give you a friendly countdown to all of the exciting Dallas Stars events taking place this coming season. Set your calendars accordingly.
Do you ever find yourself undeniably bored and desperately trying to conjure up a way to entertain yourself? If you’re a Dallas Stars fan, there’s a good chance that you’re doing it right now.
Sure you have your typical work week and family ordeals, but when you’re sitting in your chair, staring at a hockey-less TV screen and wondering where the spark in your life went, you realize that the Stars (or NHL hockey in general) are the key to your happiness.
We continue to beg for NHL hockey to return, and sometimes the countdown to October can seem endless, especially as August settles in and takes things at an egregiously slow pace. You can use the hashtag #IsItOctoberYet as much as your little heart desires, but it only arrives in due time, just like every year.
But we’re here to try and soften the blow for you. Below you will find a countdown not just to the Dallas Stars opening night game against the Vegas Golden Knights, but a full-scale countdown for a majority of the exciting Stars events between now and the 2018 NHL Draft in Big D in June.
Dallas Stars
This year’s schedule is chock full of exciting events, which perfectly coincides with the Dallas Stars celebrating their 25th anniversary in Texas.
This might help you cope and give you a countdown to follow along with and look forward to, or the painful reality within the countdown might be enough to drive you overboard. Either way, take a look and start converting it to minutes and seconds if you must.
39 days until Training Camp in Cedar Park, TX
43 days until the home Preseason Opener against St. Louis
60 days until Opening Night against Vegas
106 days until Jordie Benn returns to the AAC for the first time as a Montreal Canadien
109 days until Jere Lehtinen’s retirement ceremony
146 days until Stars-Sharks on New Year’s Eve (yes, 2017 is already more than halfway over)
186 days until the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins visit Dallas
214 days until Patrick Eaves returns to the AAC
319 days until the 2018 NHL Draft kicks off in Dallas
328 days until the 2018 Free Agency Frenzy starts
Those last few numbers may seem like a long time, but they will probably be here before we know it, just like they always do. Time flies by when you’re having fun, after all.
There’s plenty to look forward to, and a lot of it seems to be just around the corner. All we have to do is live out the last little portion of the dog days of the offseason.
