Although Dallas Stars jerseys are a chance for fans to share their team spirit and support, there are some things that just shouldn’t exist but have become trendy regardless.

The Dallas Stars have some incredibly supportive fans with a lot of heart. That doesn’t, however translate into the best decisions when it comes to jerseys.

#3: More than the Name on the back

Getting a jersey signed is an exciting event for anyone – especially if you’ve been waiting to add the autograph to your favorite sweater for a while. You do, of course, get the player of your choosing when designing a jersey.

That’s why it’s a faux pas to have more than just that player sign your coveted possession. You elected to have the name and number of your desired Stars player plastered across your jersey, so why would you opt to not honor that tough decision by having the entire team put ink to it too?

If you’ve done this, you’re probably thinking something along the lines of “but I wanted the autograph” or “I love the entire team and just chose one player.” Tough. Go to one of the many stores that sell Dallas Stars gear and pick up a hat, shirt, poster or other piece of memorabilia that you can have other players sign. Keep your jersey limited to just the autograph of the guy whose name is on the back.

#2: Uneducated Player Choices

This, unfortunately, happens rather often. Fans get players on their jerseys who never played wearing that sweater. For example, there are always at least a few Mike Modano or Eddie Belfour Victory Green jerseys wandering around the American Airlines Center.

Newsflash: they never skated, played or, in Belfour’s case, even wore that jersey. Pick up a vintage sweater circa the 90s and get it customized if you’re dedicated to having an old-time Stars player’s name and number displayed across your jersey of choice.

Don’t cop out and buy a New jersey and then plaster a guy who couldn’t have worn it across the back.

#1: Bedazzled Sweaters

There’s something about a hockey jersey that sparkles that just rubs you the wrong way, right? It can’t just be me. I understand the desire to be “cute” or “trendy,” but lets save the blinged out sweaters for ugly Christmas sweater parties and the like.

You are wearing a hockey jersey after all. It’s not figure skating, and it should be respected as such.

By adding “bling” to your admittedly expensive jersey, you’re undermining its relevance. No NHL player would wear a jersey with rhinestones adhered to the numbers or names in basically any setting, so why should a fan?

While you might not feel as passionate about these faux pas as me, you have to admit at least a few are pretty bad.

If you personally have chosen to partake in any of these faux pas, that’s entirely your right. At the end of the day, jerseys are for personal expression. These just happen to be poor ways of going about it.
