The Dallas Stars recalled forward Jason Dickinson from the Texas Stars (AHL) this morning. With the long road trip ahead, no. 16 should receive some playing time.
After losing their third straight game last night, the Dallas Stars are in need of some sort of change.
This three-game skid has all but extinguished the positive that came just before it in a five-game win streak. Dallas is now close to falling out of a playoff spot and needs to start up a new win streak. That’s only going to happen if they find a way to turn around their misfortunes.
Maybe bringing Jason Dickinson up will do the trick.
The Dallas Stars recalled Dickinson from the Texas Stars of the AHL this morning. With the call-up, Dickinson is now the thirteenth active forward on the Dallas roster. His presence not only gives the Stars options, but also gives them a potential spark for the road trip ahead.
Dallas Stars
This week, the Stars will travel up north for a four-game trip. They will take on four Eastern Conference opponents, including the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and Philadelphia Flyers. They will play these four games across six days.
With the need for offensive depth and a spark among the forwards, Dickinson could give Dallas what they need.
Though he has yet to register a point this season, Dickinson has proven to be an energetic asset to the lineup. In 15 career games with the Stars, he has three goals on 13 shots. He’s got good size at 6-2, 205 pounds and can bring plenty of different elements to the lineup on both sides of the puck.
Dickinson plays center but can also play the wing. He was called up initially on November 1 this season after missing out on the final opening night roster spot. He played in four games before being reassigned to the AHL.
With the Texas Stars this season, Dickinson has 13 goals (tied for second most in the AHL) and 14 points in 20 games. He’s been one of their most productive forwards and knows how to make an impact on offense.
And that’s exactly what the Stars need on offense in the week ahead. There’s something missing from the team right now, and Dickinson’s speed and skill could help lift the team back up and reignite a win streak.
Dickinson will play Monday night as the fourth-line center against the Rangers. He’ll likely be on a line with a combination of Remi Elie, Gemel Smith, or Brett Ritchie. If Dickinson can create new energy and get the fourth line moving, the Stars just might be able to spark their offense again.
