Dallas Stars 2021 Opening Night Roster: Surprises

On Monday I was shocked the Stars had three goalies on the roster. Since there is no taxi squad due to covid concerns this season, it doesn’t make sense to carry three goalies on the main roster. I think Oettinger will get sent down and Holtby and Khudobin will be the two main goalies till Bishop is back.

Luke Glendening and Joel Kiviranta were probably the two biggest surprises to make the roster. The Stars signed Luke during the offseason and most likely was going to be sent down to the minors before the season started.

The final surprise is Joel Kiviranta making the final roster. Kiviranta made a name for himself for the Dallas Stars during their Stanley Cup run back in 2020. In my opinion, he didn’t have a great preseason and was one player from last year who might not make the final roster.

Dallas Stars 2021 Opening Night Roster: Conclusion

This roster looks like a really well-balanced roster with some veterans and some new faces. It might take a couple of weeks for the players to form chemistry on the ice. If this team remains healthy this year, they could make a name for themselves and make the playoffs again.
