The Dallas Stars make one more road stop on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins before returning home for their home opener Friday night. The Stars are coming off a lackluster performance against the very young Ottawa Senators. Will they make it back to .500 tonight against the very tough Penguins?

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins game preview: 1. Shoot the puck to the front of the net

I usually don’t like this style of play, but considering who the opponent is tonight, you kind of have to. The Stars have to just shoot the puck to the front of the net and crash it. Try to get a deflection to redirect it or knock it out of the air.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins game preview: 2. Keep the puck in Pittsburgh’s zone

The Stars let their opponents control the puck for most of the games played this season. The Stars have to learn to control the puck for most of the game as well. You are not going to win a lot of games in the NHL if your opponent controls the puck.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins game preview: 1. Eject some momentum in the game

The Stars need to learn to eject some momentum into the game when they are trailing the opponent. In the last couple of games when the opponent had the lead, it seemed like they gave up in the game. If that means throwing down the gloves and beating up the opponent in a fight, then win a couple of fights.

Pittsburgh Penguins top players to Watch

Tristan Jarry

I hope he’s not in the net tonight because Tristan Jarry has a .917 save percentage. He has a 2-0 record and could make it 3-0 by the end of tonight if the Stars don’t get the puck to the front of the net.

Danton Heinen

Danton Heinen is Pittsburgh’s top scorer through three games so far this season. I would expect him to challenge Braden Holtby or Anton Khudobin often throughout the game.
