Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 1st period summary

The game started off going back and forth between both teams, showing physicality and both teams wanting the puck. Midway through the first period for the Stars, Holtby couldn’t get the rebound and Paul Statsny made it 1-0 Jets.

Jamie Benn tied up the game 1-1 with 3 minutes left in the first period. Benn was assisted by none other than his linemate Tyler Seguin. At the end of the first period, the Stars lead in the shots category 8-7.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 2nd period summary

Josh Morrissey didn’t take long to score on the power play to start the second period and the Jets were able to retake the lead 2-1. This was another goal that Holtby wish he was able to stop.

Roope Hintz was able to score 6 minutes into the second period to tie it back up but the goal was overturned after further review. The Jets would go back on the power play after the goal was overturned. Pierre-Luc Dubois “capitalized” on it to make it 3-1 Jets.

The Stars were just completely dominated from the puck drop to start the second period. The Stars are going to need to revamp their strategy going into the third to pull off a comeback.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 3rd period summary

This is where the Stars decided that they weren’t going to lay down to the Jets and came out of the locker room with a new game plan. Jason Robertson buried a puck past the Jets goaltender on the power play to bring the game within one goal.

Later in the period, John Klingberg was able to get the puck on net and Tyler Seguin was able to get the deflection to tie the game at 3. The game would end up going to OT after the goal. This is not what the Stars were hoping for.

Unfortunately, the Stars were not able to win the game in the shootout and only managed to come away with one point. Fans should be happy that the Stars didn’t give up after the second period and decided to make it a game. Stars have a quick turnaround as they play the Calgary Flames Thursday night.
