The Stars got a lot of good looks early on in the period and just couldn’t capitalize on any of them. It wasn’t till seven minutes left in the period that Ryan Suter was able to snipe one past the Detroit goaltender to make it 1-0 Stars. The Stars would finish the period leading in shots on net 12-4.

The Stars started off the period strong with a deflection from Jamie Benn to make it 2-0 Dallas. Roope Hintz would score in his third straight game and add another insurance goal to make it 3-0.

Dallas Stars vs Red Wings postgame: 3rd period summary

Dallas Stars postgame remarks

One thing to point out was the first period tonight was the most complete first period I’ve seen the Stars play this season. They kept Detroit under wraps and didn’t let them get comfortable and set up anything. Dallas didn’t commit a first period penalty either which was nice.

The last thing is I liked how the team finished the game tonight in the third period. They didn’t allow Detroit to carry the momentum over from the last half of the 2nd period. Also, it was nice to see Jason Robertson get a couple of insurance goals.
