The Dallas Stars were able to get the victory tonight against the St. Louis Blues tonight 4-1. It was amazing to see the complete turnaround from the last game in Minnesota. Here is how the Stars were able to pull out the win against St. Louis.

Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 1st period summary

After the puck dropped to start the game, both team’s goaltenders basically shut down each other teams in the scoring department in the 1st period. Binnington and Oettinger were just dominant and no one was able to score. The Stars would head into the intermission tied at zero with the Blues.

Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 2nd period summary

The Stars were able to capitalize on the power play 5 minutes into the period on a deflection off of Jamie Benn‘s elbow to make it 1-0 Dallas early on. Roope Hintz would score a shorthanded goal midway through the second period to pad the Star’s lead.

Brandon Sadd would be able to capitalize on a Stars penalty to put the Blues on the board to make it 2-1 Stars going into the intermission. The Stars would have a challenge and that’s to hold off the Blues in the third period.

Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 3rd period summary

Roope Hintz was able to add another insurance goal early on in the third to make it 3-1 Stars. Jake Oettinger basically shut down the Blues offense for the remainder of the third period. Jamie Benn was able to add an empty netter for a final score of 4-1 Dallas.

Stars takeaways from the game

Jake Oettinger showed tonight that he is the future goaltender of this team. He has had two great performances while being up on an assignment. If he has one more good game this season with the Stars, the Stars front office will have some hard decisions to make at the trade deadline.

Roope Hintz added two more goals on the season to his total. I would like to see more of this Raffl-Robertson-Hintz line moving forward this season. They seemed to be in sync whenever they were on the ice tonight.
