The Dallas Stars welcome NHL superstar Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers to town Tuesday night. The Stars will have to get lucky in order not to end up on a potential McDavid highlight reel. Here are how the Stars beat the Oilers tomorrow night in Dallas.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers: 3. Don’t give them any powerplay
The Stars allowed the Blues to score on the power play when they played them. You cannot allow the Oilers to get on the power play, they are first in the league in capitalizing on the power play at 39.6%. Do not give McDavid any incentive to add to his power play goal total this season.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers: 2. Play Jake Oettinger
You have to play Jake Oettinger if you are Rick Bowness. you cannot afford Anton Khudobin to be in the net after giving up 7 goals against Minnesota. It must be painful for Bowness to play Oettinger since he’s young, but he is the best goaltender if the Stars want a chance against the Oilers.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers: 1. Shut down Connor McDavid
You cannot allow him to walk into the American Airlines Center and allow him to have fun. I do not want to see him juking the Stars line on the ice on Sportscenter tomorrow. You have to check him and not allow him to score goals.
Oilers to watch
Connor McDavid
What else is there to say about him other than he’s the best hockey player in the league right now. He constantly is a scoring threat once his skate blades touch the ice and make any coach sweat when he has the puck. The Stars just have to make him uncomfortable and hope for the best tomorrow night.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nugent-Hopkins is Connor McDavid’s “Robin”, he’s quick and just as lethal as McDavid. You got to have a defender on him as well when he is on the ice. If you don’t defend him, you are in for a very long night.
