The Dallas Stars were able to beat “those Jerks” Carolina tonight 4-1. This was Rick Bowness‘s 2,500 game which is the most by any NHL coach. It was also Braden Holtby‘s 500 game as well. Here is how the Stars were able to ride out the weather tonight.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes recap: 1st Period
I guess Roope Hintz decided to have an energy drink shot before the game cause he scored a minute and a half into the game. Holtby played like he did at the beginning of the season and was just dominant in the first period. Stars were able to keep it 1-0 going into the first intermission.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes recap: 2nd Period
In the second period, Holtby and the Stars would shut down the Hurricanes attack. The Stars would miss some good shots for goals early on in the period. However, late in the second period, Hintz would go on the Hat Trick watch watch for the Stars as they would go up 2-0 on the Hurricanes.
With the assist on Hintz second goal, Pavelski becomes the first player to record multiple points in 3 consecutive games Martin St. Louis in 2013. Holtby would rob Sebastian Aho of a would be goal to keep it scoreless as the Hurricanes tried to break the shutout attempt. Stars would go into the second intermission up 2-0 against the Hurricanes.
Dallas Stars vs Carolina Hurricanes recap: 3rd Period
Holtby and the Dallas Stars would shut down the Hurricanes again in the third period and would not allow a puck in the back of the net. Joe “Captain America” Pavelski would add an insurance goal midway through the 3rd to make it 3-0 Stars. Roope Hintz would get his first hat trick to win the game 4-1 for the Stars. This would be the Stars 5th straight win and would cap off a great end to the November portion of the schedule.
After the game, Owen Newkirk Dallas Stars Radio Host, said Holtby surpassed Jacques Plante for most wins for a goaltender through 500 games with 293 wins. This is the perfect way to enter the December schedule which will feature 14 games including the annual New Years eve game at home.
