The Dallas Stars were not able to raise their flag over LA as the Stars lost to the Kings on Thursday night 4-0. This will be the last game that the Stars will play the Kings at the Staples Center. Here is how the Stars weren’t able to win in LA Thursday night.

Dallas Stars vs LA Kings recap: 1st period

The Stars looked lost on the ice after the opening puck drop. The bad performance could be due to the Vegas airport mishap that happened last night first reported by Matthew DeFranks, Dallas Stars Reporter for the Dallas Morning News. The Stars couldn’t get a shot on goal until a little past midway in the period. The Stars looked a tad better on the power play getting some shots on the net. The Stars and Kings would go into the first intermission tied at zero.

The only reason why the Stars are still in the game after the first period is Jake Oettinger. The Stars were outshot by the Kings 20-9 but the Stars did end up getting more faceoff wins than the Kings.

Dallas Stars vs LA Kings recap: 2nd period

There are days where when I write the pregame articles that I wish my featured opponent to watch out for doesn’t score. Adrian Kempe scored ten seconds into the second period to make it 1-0 Kings. The Star’s intensity is starting to come alive in the second, they need to use that to win games and I’m not seeing it tonight on the ice.

The Stars would go into the second intermission down 1-0 to the Kings. Oettinger has kept Dallas in the game up to this point. Good news though, after two periods the Stars are outhitting the Kings 19-9. They just need to get a couple of pucks past Quick and could possibly end up winning if Oettinger shuts them down in the 3rd period.

Dallas Stars vs LA Kings recap: 3rd period

The Stars have had some pretty good scoring looks in the third period. The only reason they haven’t been able to score is the Kings have an all-star caliber goalie in net tonight. The Kings put the final dagger in the coffin with Arthur Kaliyev’s goal with 5:28 remaining. Oettinger gave it his all tonight with how tired the team is. The Kings would go on to win 4-0. The next Stars game will be this Saturday in the Shark Tank as they take on the San Jose Sharks at 9:30 CT.
