The Dallas Stars came from behind today to snap the Penguins 10 game winning streak 3-2 in the 3rd period. This was a monumental win for this young Stars team as they try to turn their season around after their COVID outbreak after Christmas. Here is how the Stars snapped the Penguins 10 game winning streak.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins: 1st period recap

Well what I was afraid of happening did happen, the red hot Penguins came out on all cylinders and were able to score twice. Brian Dumoulin scored first for the Penguins followed by a goal Kasperi Kapanen on a redirect in front of the net. Bowness needs to get the guys back on track or else this will be a long game against the Penguins.

At the end of the 1st period, the Stars trail the Penguins 2-0 and trail them on shots on goal 10-7. The Penguins must have saw the pre game article I wrote because they came out and did exactly what I wanted the Stars to do. Hopefully, Oettinger gets some more help from his teammates in the second period.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins: 2nd period recap

The Stars would start the second period by immediately going on the penalty kill and luckily killed the penalty. The Stars are getting to the puck to the net but their goaltender has been amazing keeping the Stars off the board so far in the game. Alexander Radulov got the fans energized midway through the 2nd period by getting into a fight with a Penguins player.

Dennis Gurianov finally got the Stars on the board with 3:40 remaining in the 2nd. That goal is what the Stars needed to get back in this game going into the third period. The Stars would trail the Penguins 2-1 going into the second intermission and would trail the Penguins in shots on goal 21-17.

Dallas Stars vs Pittsburgh Penguins: 3rd period recap

The Stars continued to attack the Pittsburgh goaltender to start the 3rd and to no surprise, they couldn’t get the puck past him. Joe Pavelski would would tie it up at 2 with 5 minutes remaining in the game. Roope Hintz would score less than a minute later to make it 3-2.

The Penguins would take their one timeout with 1:23 remaining in the game to attempt to send this game to OT but they would go on to lose 3-2 to the Dallas Stars. The Stars have a quick turn around for the St Louis Blues tomorrow in St Louis at 1.
