The Dallas Stars make a quick road trip out to St. Louis for a Sunday matchup. The Stars are coming off a huge upset of the Pittsburgh Penguins and are 2-0 after the COVID break. This will be another test for the Dallas Stars as they try and get a division win on the road and win a back-to-back game situation. Here is what the Stars need to do against the St. Louis Blues.
Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 3. Attack early and make St. Louis feel like they have the blues
I was not a fan of how the Stars came out of the gate Saturday and gave up two early goals against Pittsburgh. Like I said in the pregame article for that game, Stars needed to come out and punch them in the face. St Louis isn’t going to give Dallas a head start against them. They need to take my advice and be aggressive early and continue to score after scoring a goal.
Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 2. Goalie situation
In the case of a back-to-back game situation, you would want to start the goalie who started the previous day. I know Jake Oettinger is capable of beating the Blues, but I would start Holtby for this matchup. The Stars need to get a lot of divisional wins if they want to climb back into the playoff picture later this season. Holtby has been in this scenario a lot in his career and I would like to see him get a win tomorrow.
Dallas Stars vs St. Louis Blues: 1. Defenseman
Lately, our defense hasn’t been so good during late game situations. In the third period against the Panthers, the Stars gave up the puck a lot and allowed them to get a lot of shots. The defenseman did better against the Penguins, but I would like to see not so many turnovers in our zone and do a better job of checking against the Blues.
