In the spirit of it being conference championship weekend over in the National Football League, the Stars decided to have some fun. The Dallas Stars would score a “touchdown” against the Boston Bruins on Sunday night hockey. Dallas came away with a 6-1 victory which was the complete opposite from the previous game. Here’s what went down between the Stars and the Bruins Sunday night.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins: 1st period recap

The Stars came out on all cylinders tonight getting some quick shots on Boston’s net. Tyler Seguin was the recipient of a lucky deflection and tipped it in the net to make it 1-0 Stars. Oettinger would hold off all of the shot attempts from Boston early in the period.

Alexander Radulov would get a breakaway goal which barely got in the net late in the first period to make it 2-0. The Stars would go into the first intermission tied in shots on goal ten each.

I’m loving the energy the Stars showed right out of the gate. I wish we would get more games like this out of the team this season. I don’t think Stars fans should complain about anything about the opening period.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins: 2nd period recap

Jake Oettinger opened up the 2nd period by keeping the score 2-0 on a would-be goal if shot it a second earlier. 30 seconds later, Luke Glendening would get a tip-in to add to his goal count to make it 3-0. Seconds later, Jamie Benn would make it 4-0 and force a goalie change for Boston and you couldn’t have scripted this better for Dallas.

Jamie Benn would commit the first penalty of the game and Oettinger and the penalty kill would easily kill Boston’s opportunity. Dallas would get a power play opportunity at the end of the second but can’t convert on it. The Stars go into the second intermission up 4-0 over the Bruins.

The Stars lead in shots on goal 20-18 and lead in the hits category 16-15. I have no complaints about how the Stars are playing tonight. Otter is putting a highlight reel together in his first ever start against the Bruins. The Stars offense is clicking on all cylinders right now and because of that, they have a nice cushion going into the third.

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins: 3rd period recap

The Stars would go on the power play and Roope Hintz would capitalize to make it 5-0. It’s also the first time in his career he’s scored 20 or more goals in a season. Craig Smith would score shortly after to break up Oettinger’s shut out bid. Tyler Seguin would score again with a minute left in the game to make it 6-1 which would end up being the final score.

The Stars destroyed the Boston Bruin in what would be a pretty good rebound from the Capitals blowing out the Stars. The Stars have one more game on Tuesday at home vs Calgary before the NHL All-Star Break this weekend.
