The Dallas Stars return home to the American Airlines Center after coming off their 3 game roadtrip to take on the Winnipeg Jets. They look to turn things around after getting embarrassed in Glendale Sunday night against the Coyotes. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to pick up a win and keep marching towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 3. Stay with Oettinger

Well if you haven’t already seen the news, Oettinger was named the 3rd Star of the Week which is a weekly award by the NHL. Also according to Saad Yousef, Stars beat writer for the Athletic, Oettinger’s next game will shed his waiver-exempt status.

This basically means that Oettinger is going to be the main goaltender moving forward in Dallas. If the Stars want to stay in the playoff race, got to keep starting him in between the pipes. Also, it would be smart if Jim Nill gave him a “nice raise” during the offseason.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 2. Show some energy on offense

The Dallas Stars offense looked like zombies on The Walking Dead until the 3rd period Sunday night. They have to come out with a lot of energy Wednesday night cause Winnipeg is completely different team than the Coyotes.

Winnipeg doesn’t wait for their opponent to score first so Stars need to have urgency on offense Wednesday night at home. I’m sure the fans don’t want to have heart issues if this game goes to OT like the last game.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets: 1. Don’t let Winnipeg gain any points

The last thing the Stars want in this game is Winnipeg to gain any points. Currently the Jets are right behind the Stars in the Central Division by 4 points. They have to beat the Jets in regulation to keep them from getting closer to Dallas’s position in the conference, simple as that.
