The Dallas Stars are currently sitting in the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference playoffs after the win on Wednesday night. With the NHL Trade Deadline coming up later this month on March 21st, you might not see the Dallas Stars trade any of their players. Here are some reasons why that might be a smart thing to do.

Why not to be buyers at the trade deadline: 3. Why mess up the momentum?

The Stars are currently 7-2 in the last nine games since the All Star weekend in Las Vegas. Why would Jim Nill break up the momentum that the Stars currently have going on now. The last thing that fans would want to see is John Klingberg get traded at the deadline and the Stars have a downward spiral and miss the playoffs.

If this team is still on track to make the playoffs by the time the deadline arrives, I would advise against trading anyone and keeping what we have. I dont think fans would forgive Nill if they traded a key piece of this team and they missed the playoffs due to the trade.

Why not to be buyers at the trade deadline: 2. John Klingberg has secretly committed to stay with Stars long term

This would be a shocking term of events based on the news that broke earlier this year. I could see the Stars not also not making a move at deadline if Klingberg has a long term agreement in place. Klingberg is a hot commodity at this year’s deadline since his contract expires at end of season. Multiple teams have called asking about his availability at deadline.

Why not to be buyers at the trade deadline: 1. Some fans might not be happy

Seeing fans not happy when their team trades away their favorite player happens every year. If the Stars were to trade Klingberg or (this is a hypothetical not going to happen) were to trade Jake Oettinger, fans would not be happy. The last thing the franchise wants is to lose fans over trading a franchise player.

Lets just hope the Star’s font office realize they have a hot team right now, and don’t have to trade at the deadline. Stay tuned to Blackout Dallas for more trade deadline news as it approaches later this month.
