Robertson and the Dallas Stars tame the Wild 6-3 in huge win Sunday
Jason Robertson showed Jim Nill Sunday afternoon why he needs to sign him long-term this offseason. The Dallas Stars would go on to tame the Minnesota Wild 4-1 in a huge Central Division matchup to tie Minnesota for third place in the division.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild: 1st period recap
Oettinger would keep the game scoreless as he stopped a shot by Hartman. The Stars just can’t seem to get the puck out of their zone as Minnesota already has six shots on goal compared to Dallas’s zero. Pavelski would almost get Dallas on the board early but his shot went wide of the net.
Riely Tufte and Marcus Foligno would commit the first two penalties of the game and would send both teams on the 4 on 4. Jamie Benn almost scored on a 2 on 1 breakaway on the 4 on 4 but whiffed on the shot.
Nico Sturm would score the first goal of the game on a Stars turnover in their zone to make it 1-0 Wild. The Stars look so lost out on the ice as a team in the 1st period. Jake Oettinger has done his job but has had no help from his team.
The Stars are getting in the March Madness spirit as Joe Pavelski has the puck deflected off his shoulder to make it 1-1 going into the first intermission. Got a brand new hockey game starting in the second period. Let’s see if the Stars can make improvements and take control in the 2nd period.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild: 2nd period recap
Jason Robertson would score another power play goal for the Stars as they take a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd period. Riely Tufte would follow that up with his first career goal in his home state to make it 3-1 Dallas.
The Stars are in complete control of this game after Jason Robertson scored his second goal of the game. That goal would force Cam Talbot to come into the game to stop the bleeding. The Stars have shut down Krill Kaprizov which is very surprising considering how good he is. The Stars would pretty much ride the 4-1 lead into the 2nd intermission.
Dallas Stars vs Minnesota Wild: 3rd period recap
Things are getting chippy in front of Oettinger around the midpoint of the third period. Otter has shown that he also is deserving of a long extension to stay with Dallas as well. Minnesota would pull their goalie with 8:41 remaining in the game looking for a hail mary to get back in this one.
Krill Kaprizov would finally score with 3:41 to make it 4-2 Wild. Kaprizov would score again shortly after to make it 4-3 Wild. Jamie Benn would finally silence the crowd with an empty netter to make it 5-3 Stars Jason Robertson would finally get that 3rd goal to set a franchise record for back-to-back hat tricks.
