The Dallas Stars have another pivotal Central Division road trip game tonight as they take on the Predators. The Stars are coming off a 6-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild where Jason Robertson made franchise history. If the Stars win, they can keep the first wildcard spot in the Western Conference playoffs. Here is what the Stars need to do if they want to keep the first wildcard spot.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 3. got to close out games

I’m deeply concerned about what happened late in the 3rd period against the Minnesota Wild. We allowed the Wild to technically get back in the game when Kaprizov scored twice late in the game. The Stars also missed 5 chances at scoring an empty net goal which is also equally concerning.

When the Stars have a chance to score an empty net goal, they need to score immediately simple as that. If the Stars can do that on the road and at home, we can secure our playoff spot for this season.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 2. Keep playing Oettinger

Jake Oettinger showed in the previous game he is definitely ready to be the main goaltender of the Stars. He made some unreal saves that kept the Wild from scoring and allowed the Stars to win the game.

I know I said that sometimes Holtby needs to come in and be the starter so that way Oettinger doesn’t get burned out. However, Otter changed my mind with his highlights against Minnesota. I would keep starting him unless he gets injured cause he is the good luck charm coming out of the All-Star Break.

Dallas Stars vs Nashville Predators Preview: 1. Please pay Goatbertson

Jason Robertson has shown Jim Nill that he is worth the super long extension in these past two games. He is the first player in Dallas Stars history to score back-to-back hat tricks. He is now the key part of the Star’s offense and the Stars need to keep getting him involved on the ice and pay him during the offseason.
