If you were wondering what i meant by a special night at the end of the Capital’s recap, the Stars are honoring a special person tonight. The Dallas Stars will be handing out Daryl “Razor” Reaugh bobbleheads as they welcome the Edmonton Oilers to town before heading back out on the road.

This game is still important as the Stars look to get past the Las Vegas Golden Knights to get that last wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to get two points and a win on Razor bobblehead night.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Goaltending situation for the Stars

It will be interesting to see if Scott Wedgewood will get to play in some games this week so Otter can take a break from all the hard work he has done this season. With Braden Holtby out a little bit longer than expected, acquiring Wedgewood gives the Stars a veteran backup. It stinks Adam Scheel didn’t get any playing time while up with the Stars, but acquiring Wedgewood was the smart thing to do considering we are right outside the playoffs.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 2. Stopping Connor Mcdavid and Leon Draisaitl

This will be a challenge for the Stars since their defense right now has been up and down over the last couple of weeks. I know that these two will not give the Stars a 15 minute head start to get their offense going. The Stars will need to up their defensive energy if they want to survive going up against these two.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers 1. More consistent goal scoring starting in 1st period

Stars need to continue to keep scoring more than one goal a game. The game against the Capitals was a pretty good sign that this is going in the right direction. The only thing I hope doesn’t happen tonight is if one player scores and then the rest of the team is content with defending that lead. If we can consistently start scoring three goals a game, I can see the Stars getting two points at home and continuing to be a playoff contender.
