The Dallas Stars hit the road for the next five games and that roadtrip will start out in Anaheim, California. The Stars will play the Ducks for the next two games. The Stars have some company on their tail in the playoff race as Vancouver is now closing in on the final wildcard spot. The Stars need to get four points here as they are running out of time to get into the playoffs. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to have a successful duck hunt.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks: 3. Get the offense going consistently

The Dallas Stars need to score more consistently, they can’t be content with one goal and think they can hold the lead. Everyone on the team needs to lend a hand in scoring including the captain Jamie Benn. Jacob Peterson or Denis Gurianov can’t be the primary scorer for the Stars every game. Consistent scoring needs to start tonight if the Stars want to make the playoffs.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks: 2. Defense late in games

It seems lately that Rick Bowness late game strategy of dump and chase hockey in the 3rd period is growing on the young Stars team. The Stars can not afford to do that against this young and very good Ducks squad. The Stars need to continue checking players into the boards late in the 3rd period and keep control of the puck. If the Stars can learn to keep playing defense late in the game with the lead, this Stars team can be very lethal.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks: 1. Dont end up on SportsCenter

The Stars don’t need too end up on SportCenter’s not top 10 this week. Trevor Zegras knows how to do the “Michigan” and I’m afraid that if he will do that against Dallas. The Stars need to play defense and make sure someone is on him behind the net.
