It was only a couple weeks ago that the Dallas Stars got voted off the island by the New York Islanders in their fancy brand new arena. Tonight the Stars look to get revenge against them at the American Airlines center. Coming off getting humiliated by the Kraken Sunday night, the Stars look to right the ship as their chances of making the playoffs are dwindling. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to get revenge on the Islanders.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 3. Got to play defense

Don’t know if any of the Stars will see this but they have to play defense. The Star’s defense in the previous game against the Kraken made them look like a Stanley Cup contender even though they are eliminated from the playoffs right now. I want to see some bodies go flying into the boards and the air. We don’t need a repeat of the previous games performance on home ice.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 2. Home ice advantage

The Stars are finally back at home after a long and challenging road trip of the Pacific coast. The home crowd will be a nice advantage and should help the Stars to a victory. However that isn’t always the case since some opponents come into the American Airlines Center and put their feet up like they own the place. The Stars can’t let the Islanders do that to them on their home ice, they have to protect their home ice.

Dallas Stars vs New York Islanders Preview: 1. Continue to get points

The Stars have to continue to win in regulation if they want to make the Stanley Cup playoffs. They really don’t have room for any setbacks with all the other teams like Vancouver and Las Vegas on their tail. For the month of March, the Stars have been jumping into that second Wildcard spot and then getting pushed out by Vegas. That has to stop in the month of April if they want to play in May.
