This is one of those matchups that the Stars can’t overlook as they continue on their quest for the playoffs. The Dallas Stars take on the New Jersey Devils in a possible “trap” game at the American Airlines Center Saturday afternoon. The Devils are second to last in the Eastern Conference and have nothing to lose since they are out of the playoffs. Last thing the Stars need is the Devils screwing up their playoff chances. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to avoid losing.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils preview: 3. Attack early and often

I think the Stars can take a note out of the Texas Rangers playbook last night against the Toronto Blue Jays. That note is scoring early at the beginning of the game. Stars need to put the Devils out of it early Saturday afternoon. The one thing the Stars can’t do if they get out to an early lead is allow the Devils to comeback and win the game. Dallas doesn’t need two teams this weekend with an epic lead collapse.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils preview: 2. Otter time

The Stars did comeback and force overtime and picked up a point against the Maple Leafs which was good. While Scott Wedgewood did his job, Jake Oettinger needs to come in and get us two points today. With the way Oettinger has gotten us into playoff contention this season, only seems right to play him when we need two points. Stars can’t afford to only get one point today.

Dallas Stars vs New Jersey Devils preview: 1. Exorcise those Devils

I would really like to see Victor E Green randomly sprinkle holy water behind the Devils bench tomorrow as a joke. Stars fans need to make it loud and uncomfortable for the Devils in the AAC Saturday afternoon. I think the only reason they made it to OT against the Maple Leafs was the crowd getting into the game late. It needs to be so loud in the arena that I can hear the crowd through the TV.
