Nothing like a Dallas Stars Chicago Blackhawks matchup on a Sunday

Dallas Stars fans are in for a treat today, cause it’s going to get physical when the Stars face the Chicago Blackhawks. The Dallas Stars have a Sunday night game as they travel to Chicago as they try to catch Nashville for that number one wildcard spot.  I’ve been to a Stars Blackhawks matchup when I was younger and remember all the fights that would happen. Here are the keys to the game in what will be a very physical game with Chicago.

Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks preview: 3. Don’t commit stupid penalties

The Stars gave the Toronto Maple Leafs way too many chances on the power play. I will admit some of those “penalties” were weak, but you can’t be doing that and expect to win. Stars need to play aggressively while not ending up sitting in the sin bin for two minutes. If the Stars can clean up committing stupid penalties, Stars have a shot at humiliating the Blackhawks this afternoon.

Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks preview: 2. Shoot the puck during the power play

I think you could give the Dallas Stars an award for passing too much instead of shooting on the power play. I know that you got to pass it around to get a nice lane to shoot the puck, but ten to eleven passes before a shot is terrible. While on the power play, the Stars need to fire the puck at the net and take advantage of the extra man on the ice. It’s one of the things they need to improve on before playoff time if they clinch a spot.

Dallas Stars vs Chicago Blackhawks preview: 1. Throw some punches

This is what I love about rivalry games in hockey, players get to throw punches at other players. Sometimes winning a fight on the ice is just what a team needs to get going on offense. If the Stars are stalling on offense, Jamie Benn or Alexander Radulov need to start throwing haymakers. Usually, I’m against promoting violence but if it gets the Stars going on offense, I’m all for it.
