Dallas Stars look to dry up the oil wells one last time this season
The Dallas Stars continue their roadtrip through Canada by making one last stop in Edmonton to take on the Oilers one final time this season. The Stars look to forget about what happened against the Canucks on Monday night and look towards making the playoffs. They can’t afford to come away with zero points tonight. Here are the keys to the game for the Stars as they look to beat the Oilers one last time this season.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Defense
After giving up six goals to the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night, the Stars need to shore up their defense. Esa Lindell being out due to non COVID illness really hurt the Stars. The rest of the team needs to step up and help out where their weakness is. They can’t afford to not guard Connor McDavid and allow him to score a hat trick tonight. Hopefully, Bowness can encourage the guys to play defense tonight.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 3. Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin need to step up
The Stars need offense tonight from their two highest paid players on the roster tonight. I actually was reading comments about the Stars Canucks game on a forum and fans were shocked Benn and Seguin are “robbing” the Stars of 9 million dollars a year each. I want to see the “Benn and Seguin” that was once dominating the league in goals again. It can help the Stars make the playoffs and go deep into the postseason like two years ago.
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Preview: 1. Play Wedgewood in net
I don’t know if that was just a off night for Jake Oettinger on Monday as he didn’t look like himself in net. Maybe he needs some rest and it would be smart if Wedgewood started tonight and against Calgary. Bowness doesn’t need to run Oettinger into the ground to the point where he doesn’t do well in the playoffs if they make it.
