Do you sometimes think did the season go by super quickly? Well we are at game 82 of the regular season as the Dallas Stars welcome the Anaheim Ducks to the American Airlines Center Friday night. It does stink that Ryan Getzleaf wont be in the lineup for the Anaheim Ducks one last time but we do wish him all the best in retirement. The guy was a pain in the butt over the years against the Stars. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to end season on a high note.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Preview: 3. Check them into the boards

The one thing that drove me insane in the loss to the Arizona Coyotes was the lack of checking players when they had the puck. I know they have that new emphasis on Cross Checking rule this year, but they have to knock them on their butts. Last thing you want to see is Trevor Zegras do “the Michigan” on Friday night.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Preview: 2. Shut down the game in the 3rd period

Another thing that drove me up the wall watching the game was giving up a 3 goal lead to the Coyotes on Wednesday night. That can’t happen in the playoffs or else we will be eliminated by the end of next week. When you have a 3 goal lead, you defend the lead and add to it. Stars need some momentum going into the playoffs next week whether we play Calgary or Colorado.

Dallas Stars vs Anaheim Ducks Preview: 1. Get that first wildcard spot

Stars need to win on Friday if they want to survive more than a week in the Playoffs. The Calgary Flames would be a way better matchup for Dallas instead of playing the Colorado Avalanche. So even though the Stars clinched their playoff spot, they still need to win to get the favorable matchup in round one next week.
