The Dallas Stars are ready to go and leave it all out on the ice. Tonight is game one against the Calgary Flames. This is the first time since the 2020 Playoffs that Calgary and Dallas have met each other in the postseason. Playoffs hockey is a different breed and you will probably see a whole new Stars team tonight. It’s going to be a rowdy crowd at the Saddledome so they need to be ready on the opening puck drop. Here are the keys to the game if the Stars want to win game 1.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 1. All lines please contribute to the offense

This is not the time that the Stars can rely on the top line to score all the goals. Every line needs to get to the net and jam the puck past Jacob Markstrom. The Flames need to be caught off guard on defense and attacking the net at will is probably the best way to do it. Stars aren’t going to advance to the Conference Semi-Finals if they don’t attack the net.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 2. Protect Oettinger

Stars need to do all they can in order to help Oettinger on defense. One of the things they need to do is not stand in front of him and block his view of the top of the blue line. The second thing they need to do is protect him from any of the Calgary players trying to injure him while trying to score. If the Stars see Oettinger is getting messed with, send a “rough” message to Calgary that you don’t mess with the Otter.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 1. Show the league Dallas is not a joke

Over the weekend, I was tired of reading all the comments online making fun of the Dallas Stars being the last team in the playoffs. It’s time that the Stars use on their best Heath Ledger Joker impression and go mess up everyone’s playoff brackets in the bracket challenge. It’s time the Stars show everyone across the league we aren’t a joke and are a legit threat to make the Stanley Cup Finals.
