Dallas Stars get burned in the 3rd period as the Flames tie the series at 2
The Dallas Stars had an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the series against the Calgary Flames tonight. Going 0-4 on the power play and staying in your own zone the entire game is not the way to take that commanding lead. The Stars would go on to lose 3-0 to the Calgary Flames as they tie the series heading back to Calgary. Stars have to respond in Calgary or else this series might be over on Friday. Here is what happened at the American Airlines Center Monday night.
Dallas Stars Game 3: 1st Period Recap
The Dallas Stars came out kind of sluggish to start the game. The Flames took advantage and pummeled Jake Oettinger with a bunch of shots on net. Later in the period, Tyler Toffoli would be left speechless as Oettinger would rob him of what would have been a goal 99% of the time.

At the end of the 1st period the Stars and the Flames would remain scoreless. The Flames would lead in shots on goal 19-8 while the Dallas Stars led in total hits 16-9. The Stars would need to get their offense going if they want to push the Flames to brink of elimination.
Dallas Stars Game 3: 2nd Period Recap
The Stars would continue to get shots on Jacob Markstrom but he would stop all of their attempts. The Flames would be gifted with a 5 on 3 power play where they would finally get their first goal of the game. Ramses Andersson would score on the power play to give the Flames a 1-0 lead.
The Flames would lead the Stars 1-0 going into the final intermission. Calgary would lead in shots on goal 39-23 and in faceoffs won 25-19. The Stars look completely lost out there on the ice as they look to get something going in the final frame.
Dallas Stars Game 3: 3rd Period Recap
Things would go from good to worse in the 3rd period for the Stars. Johnny Gaudreau would receive a penalty shot and would fake the backhand on Oettinger to make it 2-0 Flames. Elias Lindholm would score a bit later to make it 3-0 Flames.
Tyler Seguin showed up late to the party to get the Stars on the board with 5 minutes left in the game to make it 3-1 Flames.

However Mikael Backlund would score the empty net goal to make the final score 4-1 Flames. Stars are back at it on Wednesday night up in Calgary for Game 5. That is a must win game for the Stars as they could be on the brink of elimination Friday night.
