The Dallas Stars season is on life support entering game 6 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Stars trail the Calgary Flames 3-2 in the series and a Flames win can end the Stars season tonight. Stars need to leave it all out on the ice tonight no exceptions. They dug themselves into this hole by how they played in the 3rd period of game 5 in Calgary. Here is how the Stars can force game 7 on Sunday night in Calgary.
Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 3. Check them into the boards
The Stars desperately need to play defense tonight facing elimination. I want to see players making a play on the puck and keeping the puck out of the Star’s zone. We cannot afford to allow Calgary to get comfy in our zone. If you looked at how easily the Flames were able to score in game 5 shows you the Stars let up on defense. Tonight they can’t let up on defense or else they will be getting ready for the golf courses next week.
Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 2. Score at will
The Dallas Stars need to scrap whatever offensive strategy that Rick Bowness has. Tonight isnt the night for dump and chase hockey. They need to desperately crash the net in order to take Calgary out of the game early. It would be a great night for a 5 goal game, they cant afford to score one goal and sit on that lead. It has to be constantly trying to score all night long from the opening puck drop.
Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Preview: 1. Help Otter
This is mainly directed as Ryan Suter as he allowed Calgary to get their first goal of the game. You cannot allow the Flames to set up directly in front of Jake Oettinger. That is probably going to be how the Calgary Flames attack us tomorrow night. The defenseman have to clear out the Flames from the front of the net.
