All Dallas Stars fans can do is wait until a new coach is announced

We have reached the Stanley Cup Finals which means we only have a few more games left of the 2021-22 season. The Dallas Stars are focusing their attention towards finding a new head coach for next season. The Stars can’t afford to get this hire wrong since this could effect the future of the franchise.

Fans immediately became impatient on Twitter after the Windsor Spitfires were eliminated from the OHL Finals. They wanted the Stars to immediately sign Marc Savard and be done with the coaching search.

Here is who are the top two candidates for the Star’s coaching vacancy that could continue into the month of July.

Dallas Stars Coaching Search: Peter DeBoer

Right now according to Bruce LeVine, the Radio Co-host for the Dallas Stars, DeBoer is the front runner to be the next Head Coach. If Jim Nill is looking for a veteran head coach, DeBoer would be one of the best that is available after Las Vegas hired Bruce Cassidy. He has taken the Vegas Golden Knights to the Western Conference Finals twice. If the Stars want to get back to the playoffs and go deep into it next season, DeBoer could be our guy.

Dallas Stars Coaching Search: Marc Savard

This is the coach that a lot of Stars fans are hoping Jim Nill decides to hire. In the one season of being the Windsor Spitfires coach, Savard took the Spitfires all the way to game 7 of the OHL Finals before losing to the Hamilton Bulldogs. He coached Stars top prospect Wyatt Johnston this past season where he went on to win OHL Most Outstanding Player of the Year. That success will certainly grab any NHL GM’s Attention.

Dallas Stars Coaching Search: Conclusion

Personally I don’t blame Nill for taking his time before naming a new head coach. He only has one year left on his contract as General Manager and choosing the wrong coach could certainly end his tenure here in Dallas. Right now, he has to make the right decision not for just next season, but for seasons beyond that. That’s why I don’t expect the Stars to have a coach named by the NHL Draft. The only thing Stars’ fans can do now is sit back and wait for them to announce their next coach.
