Gainey and Hatcher named to inaugural Dallas Stars Hall of Fame Class
Do you remember when I announced that the Dallas Stars were creating a Hall of Fame for long-time former players and front office personnel? Well, the Stars just announced today that Derian Hatcher and Bob Gainey were inducted into the inaugural Stars Hall of Fame Class.
This is a huge honor for both people as their names will forever be enshrined in Dallas Stars History. Here is what Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts had to say about both of them being inducted into the Stars Hall of Fame.
“Derian was everything that you would have wanted from a captain. He led with his actions on the ice and helped unite the locker room behind one common goal. Bob thoughtfully and meticulously constructed his roster and assembled extremely competitive teams. His commitment to winning helped cement hockey’s popularity when the team moved to Dallas, resulting in generations of loyal Stars fans. We look forward to celebrating them during the Dallas Stars Hall of Fame Weekend in October.”
Here is more info about each of the inductees and why they were voted in by the fans.

Dallas Stars Hall Of Fame Inductee: Derian Hatcher
Derian Hatcher was drafted by the Stars eighth overall in the 1990 NHL Draft. He was with the Stars for over twelve seasons and was an instrumental part in winning the Stanley Cup in 1999. He is also the second-longest tenure Defenseman in Stars history and is tied with Jamie Benn for the longest Captain of the team at 9 years.
Here is what Derian’s reaction was to being named to the Dallas Stars Hall of Fame earlier today.
Dallas Stars Hall of Fame Class Inductee: Bob Gainey
Gainey served as part of the team’s hockey operation department from 1990-2002. He was one of the main Front Office personnel that really helped get the Stars to the 1999 Stanley Cup. He guided them to 7 post-season births, 2 Stanley Cup Finals, 2 President Cups, and 5 Division Championships. He was also responsible for creating the core of players who would go on to create the most successful era in franchise history.

To wrap up this article I just want to congratulate both Hatcher and Gainey for their contributions to this franchise. This is a well-deserved honor for both of them and the Stars wouldn’t have won the cup in 1999 if it wasn’t for both their contributions.
