Mason Marchment’s Stars debut was a very good one. His two goals helped the Dallas Stars beat the Arizona Coyotes in OT 4-3. This was a really good game for the Stars as players continue to fight for a opening night roster spot. Unfortunately, not all the players in this game will make the final roster. Let’s break down who did well in the second preseason game of the Stars 2022-23 season. Let’s’ kick off this article with the first goal celebration of the season.

Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 1. Mason Marchment Can Score

Stars fans should be relieved that Mason Marchment isn’t one of those players fighting for a roster spot. With the deal that the Stars signed him to this offseason, he will be on the final roster for opening night. I was very happy to see Mason get two goals including the game winner Tuesday night. We need to have offense on every line this season and hopefully Roope Hintz and Denis Gurianov are his line partners. Here is the clip of him scoring the game winning goal.

Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 2. Antonio Stranges isn’t ready for the NHL

I’ll keep it simple and to the point, Antonio Stranges is not ready for the NHL just yet. He seriously needs to work on puck control down in Cedar Park this season. He’s got the offensive scoring skills, we definitely know that for sure. If he can just put two and two together, he is going to be one heck of an NHL player. He just needs more time to develop and what better place to do that is with the Texas Stars.

Dallas Stars vs Arizona Coyotes Recap: 3. Colin Miller might make the opening night roster

Colin Miller looked really good last night on defense. He signed a two-year-deal worth 1.85 million dollars this past offseason. From what I on social media from some of the Dallas Stars reporters who were at the game, Miller is going to make things interesting. Miller is most likely fighting Stars defenseman Thomas Harley for that sixth and final defenseman spot on the roster. Will be something to keep an eye on as we get closer to the season starts.
